I am pretty sure I am not. In fact, although this household is very, very, mixed race ( white identifying as Northern Irish married to Asian origin identifying as English with kids mixed race identifying as Welsh) 98% of folks here in Wrexham are white. And although you would find it hard to believe given the media coverage and our Government’s determination to spend as much as it can to make Wales “the most LGBTQ friendly country in Wales” the census suggests that almost 98% of us are in fact heterosexual. In Cardiff it is only 95% so the proportion up here in North Wales must be even higher. But…

My son is a 5 year old kid just like all the other kids in his form at Primary school. He plays, he learns, he obeys the teacher. He gets on well with his peers and with older kids in a school where there are, I think, three children of colour. Joshua is the only one in his form. Boy must he have stood out today.

What could be better and bring more joy to this rain-sodden, post industrial nation? In Wales, 5.5% of the population is BAME among them my wife and two kids one of whom starts school in September. In our district, Wrexham, the BAME number is 2.6% according to the Welsh Government which has today announced exciting new changes to the school curriculum.

I always will be a Republican. I can see no reason why the Royal Family should exist in its current constitutional position. Having said all of that, if there has to be a Monarch, the one we have and her consort Phil the Greek are, without doubt, the best one could wish for. As human beings, they are thoroughly admirable.
